Question sent by Pragnesh Radhanpura:-
I invested Rs. 60,000 in Axis Liquid Fund. Then I transfer Rs. 5,000 monthly through STP in Axis Equity Fund. Is this strategy right or wrong? Also I want to start an SIP. Please advice as to where I can invest?
Advice given:
- There is nothing wrong with your strategy. Instead of investing in equity mutual funds via lumpsum, it is a good move to first park the amount in a liquid fund and enter equity mutual funds in a staggered manner. This helps you take advantage of any volatility in the market.
- You can start an SIP in a mid & small fund.
- If the SIP is a larger amount, you can even consider sectoral exposure.
- You can maintain an overall asset allocation of:
- Diversified – 40%
- Mid & Small – 30%
- Sectoral – 30%
