Question sent by Ronak Patel:-

I am 24 years old. I have invested in mutual funds but I need some advice as my goals are approaching. I am thinking of investing additional Rs. 2,000 in mid & small cap fund.

Which fund is better: Birla Sun Life MNC Fund, DSPBR Micro Cap Fund, SBI Mid & Small Cap Fund or Reliance Small Cap fund.

Kindly advice me so that I am able to achieve my financial goals.

Advice given:

  1. You can choose any of these funds but always keep in mind that equity investments should be made from a long term horizon point of view, i.e. at least 5 years.
  2. Ideally, take one diversified large cap scheme, one midcap and one sectoral fund.
  3. Ideal allocation should be about 40:40:20 into large, mid and sectoral funds respectively.
